Re: Band/Song/Album Suggestion Megathread
This next band is a bit of a departure for me. I generally stay away from music that tries to merge Hip-Hop with Rock, but for whatever reason, I love The Flobots.
Mackenzie Roberts is the chick in the band who sings backup, plays the violin, and is just generally hot in all sorts of ways. So that might be it.
It is quite annoying that almost nothing i want to share is available online. GTB set up a DC++ or something.

Having listened to a few more, I must say Doyle Bramhall is pretty good, though his voice is a little too Kravitzy at times.
The 70's band that fp suggested is kinda awesome. I really feel like I heard them somewhere before, but I might be confusing them with blue oyster cult. (great band BTW).

Band: The Black Keys Album: Brothers
The Black Keys are a blues-rock band from Akron. A lot of people compared them to the White Stripes early on, which is why I never gave them much credit - I thought they were a ripoff. That will teach me to listen to other people. This duo is easily better than the White Stripes could ever consider being. They also have 6 albums that flew under that flew completely under my radar. I came across their newest release last time I went to the record store and really enjoyed it.

If you've seen footage from Woodstock or seen Fahrenheit 9/11 (opening song) then you have heard them before.

Re: Band/Song/Album Suggestion Megathread
The decemberists are one of those bands that are constantly recommended to me, but I really don't care for.
However, The Rake's Song is the one exception. For some reason I love this song.
the subject matter seems odd to say the least, but I guess it fits into the whole story of the album. But who cares... The song grooves.

Lexington Kentucky natives bringing a blend of stoner metal, sludge, and high energy. I saw these guys last week and was pretty much blown away. They are amazingly tight for a band that's only been together for a year, thanks to a very talented line-up. They have something for everyone who likes metal.
